Well it has been awhile since I’ve written here huh? I can’t believe it’s June already. Hopefully I’ll get some more time to write soon as I’ve got a lot of stuff (unfortunatly none of it’s very interesting) going on in my life. Good for keeping busy, bad for blogging. Any minute now I’ll be able to do some more writing.

Thanks Connie
January 31, 2003Well for anyone that has checked out the blog over the past week, you might notice that today’s blog looks a bit different. (And 100% Better!) And it’s all thanks to Connie. She offered to spruce up my site (I must have been butchering it to baddly for her
) and I think she did an INCREDIBLE job with it. It’s absolutly stunning. Of course I’ll continue to tweak it and add new things (with her help probably) but this is a great site. Check back next week for some new pics (I’m either going to set them statically or do a “Pic of the Week” sort of thing.) but I look forward to contineing to work on this in the future. Thanks again Connie.

First Web Site
January 31, 2003Well it’s been quite a week for me in the computer world. In one week I’ve managed (thanks to the efforts of some very helpful people
) to get my Blog up and running, comments installed, a BBS link, and a guestbook. And last night I published my first web site. VisionQuest. It’s still very cheesy, but it does have a picture gallery of some pics I’ve taken with my digital camera over the past year or so. Using a program called NetObjects Fusion 7.0 and a free web site from web1000 I was actually able to get the site up and running in about 30 minutes of actual work. Very simple, very easy (kind of like me!) but now I can spend countless hours tweeking it, adding pics, and seeing what else I can throw up on there. Hopefully next weeks posts will be a little less based on what I’ve accomplished with online stuff and a bit more thought provoking (at the very least I hope for them to at least be entertaining!) Thanks again to everyone that’s helped out and I want to thank everyone who’s taken the time to comment on my various ramblings. See you all on the Blog.

A Welcome Day Off, Almost
January 30, 2003Well it’s a great day to work on the Blog and all my links! Why you ask? Well I’ll tell you. Last night while skiing the bumbs I twisted my knee a bit. Not baddly, just enough to take some of the strengh out of it. That wasn’t the bad part though, what was, were the flashbacks of my knee surgery (same knee) I had had about 5 years previously. All I could think about was the surgery, and the rehab, and the ROYAL pain in the ass all that would be if I had to endure that again. So I decided to just pack up my stuff and head out for the day, no use trying to force myself into something that would just get me even more hurt later. So today I was going to take the day off of work, lay around in bed, watch some movies, read my new Blog Book (BLOG ON The Essential Guide to Building Dynamic Weblogs by Todd Stauffer) and hobble over to my computer to work on the web log. Unfortunatly my co-worker decided to do the same and called me at 7:30 to tell me he was staying home. So up I got, took a shower and came in to work after all. Such a good doobie I am. Thankfully I have a wonderful job that I can still sit around here and work on my weblog anyway. Actually today I’ll probably be spending some time setting up the BBS with various forums for comments and discussions. And in case anyone’s keeping a running track, I found my Composition Book last night. It was in a box of books that’s still in the basement. Now I can add stuff to that to transfer to the Blog at a later time. I know everyone was DEEPLY concerned about that.

New Bulletin Board!
January 29, 2003Ok, that settles it, I’m a fully fledged nerd. Not that I didn’t know this before, but I’m thinking right now it’s as official as it can get. I guess I owe a bit of an explination. Here goes. Earlier today I was talking to Tiara and telling her I needed to get my domain named registered so I could set up my web site out of my house. So she gave me a site. www.web1000.com which boasts free 50 MB web sites. So I poke around, decide it’s legit, and sign up. After I signed up, I log back into their site under their webmaster login prompt (heh, I’m a Webmaster now *flex*) and what little bit of information does it give me? Why nothing other than a free BBS, all you have to do is click the link to activate it, click the link to it, and log in as admin. There it is, that’s it. Ladies and Gentlemen, Elvis has left the building. God I’m such a nerd. But like any good nerd, I’m going to post the link here for now, and as soon as I figure out how to link items to the Right side of my web page (as opposed to the left side where all my current links are) then I’ll make the perminant link. (if anyone knows how to link to the right side of the page, please leave me a message, thanks). Joe’s Kick Ass Bulletin Board System Ok, I’m done now, I need to get ready to go skiing. I’ll start posting stories to my BBS tomorrow. Some of the featured discussions will be on Harry Potter, skiing, computers, blogging, aquariums, and of course…my greatness. Until then my loyal web monkies, adieu.

New Links
January 29, 2003Well I’m rather impressed if I do say so myself. IN just one (1) day I have been able to add some links to some of my favorite sites as well as fellow bloggers, and add a comments section to my posts. It’s not much, but it’s a start. (What can I say, I’m easily amused.) Last night while driving home I kept thinking about all the things I would like to blog about, and decided that I needed to pull out my composition notebook so I could write them down as I thought of them, and then just added them to the blog at a later time. Of course when I went to go look for it, I couldn’t find my Comp. Book anywhere (Note to self, clean up pigsty of a bedroom
) I just recently moved so I still have a few boxes of books I need to go through, there’s a good chance it could be in there. Well don’t have to much time to write today, leaving work early to go skiing (I teach at a mountain called Whitetail in Southern Pennsylvania) (Note to self, add link to Whitetail to Blog) so I think I’ll just finish this entry up, post it, do my office chores, then play with the site a bit more, still a lot I want to do with it. I would like to take a sec to thank Tiara for mentioning me in her blog today (with a link!) and look forward to “meeting” anyone who comes here from her site, be sure to drop me a comment with a link to your own site and I’ll be sure to check it out (now I’m on a constant search for web page ideas!)

First Ever Blog Post
January 28, 2003Welcome everyone to my first attempt at a Blog. Typical to my character I have bought books, clicked links, and in the end decided to jump right in and just start doing it. (I learn best from my mistakes anyway) As long as I’m blogging, I might as well start my tangent line (if history servers me correctly I’m sure I’ll jump tangents in less than 20 words) by describing how I got into blogging. Maybe I’ll inspire anyone out there to start there own as well. A few weeks ago I was watching TV in my room when my housemate called to me and told me to turn to channel 68, I did and there was Wil Wheaton (green hair and all!) hosting Tech TV, so I decided to watch, why not, after all I used to really like Wil when he was on STTNG. While watching he made a plug to WWDN (anyone who’s been there knows what that is) and have been hooked ever since. As I enjoy writing, and always wish I have written more, I thought this Blog thing would be a great place for me to share my personal thoughts (being a Super Genius, I feel my thoughts (are) worth more than others
) The more I poked around, the more I got excited about Blogging. Then over the weekend, I bought a book entitled “BLOG ON” by Todd Sauffer with a quote from none other than Wil Wheaton, actor and writer. Well I had to buy it. (Worked out well, got Quadruople points for my housemates Bonus Card) Unfortunatly I’m still only on page 29 (not enough time to read either). Over the past few days I’ve been poking around looking at other people’s blogs and getting ideas, but one thing I notieced was that there was a large number of people using BLOGGER. And even better, I really enjoyed those sites so I decided to set one up. Being that I’m espically bored at the moment (as a Network Admin, I have a bit of free time on my hands at the office) So here it is, my first Blog. I’m looking forward to putting in thoughts and stories and I hope to hear from anyone that stops by to take a minute to read my thoughts. I’d greatly enjoy hearing from everyone.
